MANDATE OF THE DEPARTMENT / ACHIEVEMENT / AWARDS AND DISTINCTION Mandate of the Department

The Staff school was established on Monday, 14th November, 1983. It was established to carry out the following functions amongst others.

(i) To give education to the children of the University staff and other children within the immediate community

(ii) To ensure the achievement of high moral and academic standards

(iii) To create a community of learners who are physically and mentally healthy, efficient and responsible and whose behavior is acceptable to society. The school started with an initial population of thirty nine pupils in the class of Nursery I, thirteen

(13) in Nursery II and Primary One fifteen (15). The first set of staff comprised three teachers and two non-teaching staff. The school currently has a total enrolment of 892 Pupils and the staff strength has risen to over fifty for both teaching and non-teaching staff. Over the years the school has made remarkable progress in fulfilling the objectives for which it was established. The Headteacher The current headteacher, Mrs A. A. Babarinsa is the third substantive head of the school since its establishment. Achievement So Far The school has attained a remarkable standard that candidates compete keenly each school session for admission. The school has graduated twenty seven sets (27) of pupils. The first set made up of twenty two pupils (22) graduated out in 1986 while the last set (27th) made up thirty six (36) pupils graduated on July 12, 2012. Former pupils of the school are now occupying important positions in the society. Some of the old pupils of the school are now lecturers, university administrators, teachers, bankers and professionals in architecture, accountancy, computer science, medicine, dentistry, armed forces to mention just a few. Awards and Distinctions The school has won many awards and distinctions over the years. A pupil of the school represented Nigeria in an International conference on environment in Great Britain in June, 1995. The school has featured in several radio and television programmes and has won medals and commendations. Some of the pupils who were prepared for the Suleja Academy have graduated. All our pupils are adequately trained and academically equipped to gain admission into reputable secondary schools all over Nigeria.
